Real Madrid full back Dani Carvajal has called on his team to be patient when they face Juventus in the Champions League semi-final second leg.

Madrid must overturn a 2-1 first leg defeat if they are to progress and Carvajal believes they can achieve this with a higher tempo and patient approach.

“We have to keep focused and keep our cool,” he told Marca.

“We need to be patient against Juventus, we won’t improvise or get carried away. We must remember that the game will last 90 minutes and we want to put Juventus in difficulty – we have to set a higher tempo so that their possession suffers.

“We have learned our lesson from Turin, we will remember that they created opportunities and were dangerous from our loose balls or fouls we conceded.

“If we will keep calm and patient, I’m sure that we will win the match and qualify. We can’t make mistakes with easy balls and we will need the support of our fans, as they will be our 12th man on the pitch.

“Meeting a friend like Alvaro Morata in the semi-final of the Champions League makes me happy, but it’s a disadvantage to play against him because he is a great player and presents many dangers.

“[Karim] Benzema will help us, I hope he will be there on Wednesday and give his valuable contribution on the pitch.”
