“We are taking on a side fighting for important targets and facing Napoli always brings motivation,” said the Coach.

“We can prove once again, even to ourselves, that we’ve understood the meaning of this moment to put heart and soul into a game that on paper sees us as underdogs.”

The team still hasn’t been paid since July 2014 and yesterday administrators announced the vast majority of players and staff agreed to give up around 70 per cent  of the money owed.

There were nonetheless rumours of unhappiness in the Parma camp and the potential to go on strike for this game.

“That’s news to me. I have not heard anyone even mention such an idea. What Ishak Belfodil did by terminating his contract early is to be applauded. He gave a helping hand to the club by taking his long-term contract and wages off the books.

“He’s not running away, but giving the club a better chance of surviving in future. I think next week a few others could talk to the administrators and discuss this scenario.”
