Mauro Icardi said Inter beat Roma by following Roberto Mancini’s orders and his contract renewal is “close.”

The striker got the late winner in a 2-1 result at San Siro this evening.

“We gave our all on the field, doing everything that Mancini asked of us, pressing them high up the pitch and getting the goals,” Icardi told Mediaset.

“Next year we want to be challenging for important targets.”

Icardi’s contract renewal negotiations have been going on for weeks.

“We’re close to an agreement. I want to stay, so it’s between my agent and the club.”
