Roberto Mancini confirmed Inter “will try” to sign Yaya Touré from Manchester City, shared Wembley memories and trusts Erick Thohir.

The Coach spoke to Sky Sport Italia this evening at the presentation of a new book.

“Yaya belongs to City, but if this move happens… I think it would be wonderful for Italian football too, as we need champions like this.

“We will try and then see what happens.”

It was Mancini who brought Yaya Touré to Manchester City in the first place and he’s made no secret of his desire for a reunion at San Siro.

Their hopes of making the transfer stick will be damaged if Inter fail to qualify for the Europa League.

Mancio was also asked about reports today that former patron Massimo Moratti is ready to buy the club back off President Erick Thohir.

“I was surprised by what I read today. I’m fond of Moratti, certainly, as he was a great President and is still involved with the club. Thohir just needs a little time and I have faith in him.”

The book presentation was about stadiums that hold the greatest memories and provide the strongest emotional draw.

“For me it’s the new Wembley Stadium, where I won the FA Cup. My wife is still in England with our daughter. I hope they are cheering us on, as we need it!”

Many Nerazzurri fans are abandoning the team and insults were hurled from the stands after a 1-1 draw with bottom of the table Parma.

“The fans are suffering, but they must realise we are suffering too. At times it takes longer than expected and they are right to be disappointed, but it’s already a difficult situation and getting insulted doesn’t help.

“Would that have happened in England? No, we Italians are different. In England even if the team doesn’t win, at the end of the season the fans applaud you anyway.”
