The 21-year-old is one of Serie A's surprise performers of the year and could be in line for a move to a bigger club next season. But speaking about his prospects, he admitted he had no preference between the European club tournament and playing for the Albiceleste.

“I want them both!” he declared, in an interview with Rete Palermo. “If I played in the Champions League, then I'd have much greater odds of being called up for the national team.

“But it would be disrespectful towards the Palermo supporters if I said I wanted something else,” he said, in spite of statements last week in which he admitted he could move.

“I'm very happy with my situation in Sicily and above all else I'm focused on our season. We still have much to prove.”
