The Bianconeri had lost the first leg 2-1 at home, ending a run of 38 wins and four draws in all competition, but turned it all around to book their spot in the Final.

“In all honesty, it exceeded our rosiest expectations!” the defender told Rai Sport.

“We had control for 90 minutes and never seemed in doubt. This is proof all those who play here deserve to be at Juventus.

“We wanted to take the game in hand, not with a high tempo as such, but to gradually pile the pressure on Fiorentina. We knew they would suffer the pressure of such a good first leg result.

“We tried to hit them in open spaces and on the counter, which is where they tend to suffer. They build moves with many men and long passing moves, but that leaves them open on the counter when you win the ball back.”

Mohamed Salah scored both Fiorentina goals in Turin, but was kept fairly quiet this evening.

“Salah is extremely fast, but if you cut him off before he gets going then you’ve taken away one of his strengths. More than the defenders, we closed him down with the midfielders Sturaro, Marchisio and Vidal who filtered him out before he got to us.”

Chiellini was booked for dissent after shouting at the referee when a corner was denied.

“I was heading to the corner flag and asked what happened. It seemed so clear that I lost my calm and got a stupid yellow card.”

The veteran was asked about Juve’s hopes of targeting the Treble,

“We have another two months to really knuckle down and go all the way. Winning helps you to win and getting the Serie A victories gave us the confidence to do well in the Champions League.

“It’s only right for the fans to dream, but we take it one game at a time and I think our strength is that we are only focused on the next test.”
