Stefano Pioli said Lazio “want it all” from this season after a seventh win on the bounce in Cagliari.

The Aquile remain one point adrift of Roma’s second place thanks to today’s 3-1 victory at the Stadio Sant’Elia.

“I believe we played with great maturity and humility. This was a game I was afraid of, as after the break for international duty it was a risk we’d be distracted against a very motivated and aggressive side,” Pioli told Rai Sport.

“I believe we played with great maturity and humility. This was a game I was afraid of, as after the break for international duty it was a risk we’d be distracted against a very motivated and aggressive side,” Pioli told Rai Sport.

“We had some difficulties, but played as a team. We wanted this seventh consecutive victory and have found the right mentality, which is to take it one game at a time. Now we can close the Serie A book for a moment and focus on the Coppa Italia semi-final.

“Inevitably positive results give you confidence and self-belief, so we’ve got to keep going. The table is tight and we want it all from this season. My lads deserve it.”

Keita Balde Diao came off the bench and proved instrumental in two goals, plus he earned a penalty that was missed by Lucas Biglia.

“There’s a lot of competition for places between quality players here. They must all continue proving themselves ready when called upon.”
