Juventus are interested in Avellino striker Marcello Trotta, according to the player’s agent.

Trotta has spent much of his nascent career in England, having been on the books at Manchester City and Fulham, as well as loan spells at Wycombe Wanderers, Watford, Brentford and Barnsley.

The 22-year-old moved to Avellino in January, and has since scored four goals in nine games in Serie B, as well as three goals in his first three caps for Italy Under-21s.

“Yes, there’s interest from the Bianconeri,” Giuseppe Trotta, the forward’s brother and agent revealed in an interview with Tuttomercatoweb.

“It’s something we have to look into. Obviously he’s an Avellino player, and they’ll make their choices.

“Obviously we’re very flattered by the interest, as Juventus are very good at spotting young talent, just look at [Domenico] Berardi or [Daniele] Rugani.

“We had a coffee and exchanged some information, nothing more.

“Marcello’s goal is to play in the Under 21 [European Championships in the Czech Republic this summer], but it’s difficult if, as was the case at Fulham, you’re not playing.

“So even though his contract was expiring [in the summer] we decided to leave early and Avellino was a great choice.

“He’s playing regularly, he’s gotten off to a good start and what’s important now is to continue on this path.”
