Lille midfielder Rio Mavuba opens to a Roma transfer, saying he'd look forward to reuniting with his former Coach Rudi Garcia.

The 31-year-old's contract is due to expire this summer and the Giallorossi are among the options he would not turn down, but only provided they keep their Coach.

“I have the same agent as Garcia, but I haven't heard from him [Garcia] in a while,” Mavuba has said, in an interview with Sky Sport.

“I don't know where I'll be next season, and neither does he. Roma could certainly be an option for me.

“If Garcia were to stay, it would make for an interesting solution. We've already won [the Ligue 1 and the French Cup] together, so the contact with Roma would be simpler.”

The Frenchman also discussed the Lupi's moment of crisis.

“I don't know what happened. Garcia is a Coach who gives a lot of trust and communicates very much, but things turned against him.

“That's part of a Coach's life. If you want to win, you have to take a few risks. But I'm sure they'll finish well, and ahead of Lazio.”
