Leonardo Bonucci said Italy are behind England in terms of young players getting club experience.

The Juventus defender spoke to Rai Sport after the 1-1 friendly draw in Turin.

“It was a real match and we proved that working with everyone’s sacrifice we can have great games.

“Unfortunately the victory squirmed away at the end with that Townsend goal, but with time this Nazionale can only improve.

“England have many interesting young players and despite their age have been in the Premier League for a while.

“In Italy a youngster will struggle to find space in Serie A, but with time they too will help us raise the Nazionale back up.”

The build-up was all about the tension between Juventus and Coach Antonio Conte, though the stadium crowd eventually greeted him warmly.

“It must be a starting point. Unfortunately every tiny thing gets blown up out of proportion and that doesn’t help anybody.

“We must improve in that sense too.”
