“Against Juventus it's going to be a special match for me,” he said. “For a club, winning the Champions League is the greatest trophy of them all.

“It's going to be important for us to take the initiative in front of our supporters in the Signal Iduna Park.

“We've got to avoid mistakes like those against Cologne [in last Saturday's 0-0 draw], which a team like Juventus would be sure to exploit.

“I see the opportunity to go ahead. Obviously it will take a superior performance by comparison with those against Cologne or Hamburg.

“In Champions League we played some good games and I'm confident we can beat Juve.

“If we really make it for the third consecutive time to the quarter-finals, it would be an exceptional result. It's worth trying.”
