Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero said the joy of beating his beloved Roma 2-0 at the Olimpico was “indescribable.”

The patron attended the post-match interview with his daughter Emma, who is a Roma fan like her father was before buying the club.

“It’s indescribable. I felt ill! I believed, though, as Roma found a truck in the way of our goal in the shape of Viviano. He saved everything,” Ferrero told Sky Sport Italia.

“I dream every day. I can’t quite believe it right now, as to win at the Olimpico, where for so many years I came here with my daughter to watch Roma…

“The heart is one thing, the heart is another, I never denied the Giallorossi colours in my heart.”

Samp are now joint fifth with Fiorentina, only one point behind Roma.

“We deserved this, nobody has gifted us anything and we are growing after an understandable dip in form.

“I love my lads madly and at the end of the day all this hard work pays off. It is satisfying to see Samuel Eto’o and Luis Muriel do so well, as I really bet on them.

“We knew Eto’o was great, while Muriel promised me he would deliver. I wouldn’t have signed him otherwise!”
