The last few days have been non-stop speculation about who will be on the Rossoneri bench next season, as Empoli boss Maurizio Sarri leap-frogged Vincenzo Montella and Italy’s Antonio Conte in the race.

“I am not interested in any of this. I find it laughable,” assured Inzaghi in his Press conference.

“I’m not worried because I feel the affection of the President and the club every day. I don’t believe they are bluffing with me.

“I mainly feel bad for the fans who have to read things that are not true.”

Nonetheless, his position was further damaged after last week’s 2-2 draw with Hellas Verona, decided at the 95th minute.

“That unlucky late goal mustn’t change my judgment of the match as a whole. The week was affected by the result, but there’s no point looking back now.

“The team felt the blow at the time, but over the last few days they seemed relaxed to me. We have to make up for those two lost points.”

Inzaghi was under fire during that game with Verona for picking Giampaolo Pazzini rather than January signing Mattia Destro.

“It was my choice and I don’t need to discuss it with anyone before making my decisions. I am the Coach and a Coach never regrets his decisions. If you can change the rules and allow me to field 13 players, then I will, but until then I need to whittle them down.”

This is an extremely difficult trip to the Stadio Franchi, but Fiorentina risk fatigue after their 4-0 defeat to Lazio and 1-1 Europa League draw with Roma.

Unlike Milan, who are only competing in Serie A, the Viola are still in three different competitions.

“We hope to be in better shape than them, even though we have some players returning from injury. Fiorentina are in good form ad I expect an open game.

“We have everything it takes to put in a great performance. I hope to attack Fiorentina and rediscover our style of football. Complicated tests like this can help you get back on track.

“I showed the players recordings of their games played from September to December. We must find our confidence again, which was taken away due to injuries and inconsistency.

“Next week we should have Riccardo Montolivo, Nigel de Jong, Adil Rami and Mattia De Sciglio back.”
