Radja Nainggolan claimed Roma “deserved” to beat Fiorentina in the 1-1 draw and accused Viola fans of racism.

The Belgian midfielder picked up a yellow card and will therefore be suspended for the second leg of this Europa League tie.

“We deserved to win today, as Fiorentina only scored on an individual error,” Nainggolan told Mediaset Premium.

“We had four great chances plus the penalty. We went back to playing more fluid football tonight and created many scoring opportunities.”

Roma have now drawn six of their last seven games in all competition, but the performance was a vast improvement over recent outings.

“We were in good shape today and when we find our rhythm, it all becomes much simpler. We had fun on the pitch and that was the feeling we had before January.

“Tonight is a starting point, but we must keep our feet on the ground and stay calm.”

Nainggolan also revealed why he was shouting at a group of Fiorentina fans after the final whistle.

“I was angry at some Fiorentina supporters who said racist things to Seydou Keita.”
