“We started well, then started to suffer as Wolfsburg game back and gifted them three goals,” said Mancini in his Press conference.

“We should’ve been more careful, then Carrizo had that unfortunate moment. The game was going well, it’s a pity about the mistakes. Their goals were gifted by us.
“Errors can happen with goalkeepers and his misplaced pass was also the fault of our defenders, because it’s wrong to always pass back to the ‘keeper. They should be looking to play it forward and be more daring.”
Mancini was asked if he regretted choosing Carrizo for this game rather than first choice Samir Handanovic.
“He always played in this competition and did very well. This defeat is not his fault. We gave away that free kick with a bad pass too.
“You can concede goals, but not gift them. That I find unacceptable.
Now Inter need a 2-0 victory at San Siro to reach the Europa League quarter-finals.
“It was obvious this was going to be difficult and we shouldn’t have left Wolfsburg so much space. We mustn’t make so many mistakes and keep giving the ball away against a side that is so strong on the counter.
“We were going too deep and I had to change something in the second half because they are so strong on the wings.
“We can score goals against Wolfsburg, but the fundamental thing will be not conceding them. The lads have improved, but we need to make fewer technical errors.”
