Mauro Icardi explained his decision to chip the decisive penalty in Inter’s 2-2 draw at Napoli. “I know Mariano Andujar.”

The striker kept his cool in the final minutes to complete the comeback from 2-0 down at the San Paolo with a ‘Panenka’ finish.

“I had already thought about this, because I know Andujar studies the opposition strikers and their penalty techniques, so I didn’t want him to predict and save,” Icardi told Sky Sport Italia.

“The way I see it, we lost two points rather than gained one, but it does help us climb the table a little.

“In the first half we allowed Napoli to play without pressure and should’ve been more aggressive. Thankfully they didn’t score.

“This Inter is working hard and we want to be the best. We’ve lost a lot of points this season, but we are aware of our capabilities and the future is on our side. We will grow with Roberto Mancini.”
