Vincenzo Montella is still not satisfied after Fiorentina crushed Inter 4-1. “We played to enjoy ourselves and that gave us grit.”

The Tuscans had been 4-0 up and could’ve scored more, but conceded at the death from Antonio Cassano.

“I don’t know if it was our best performance,” said the unflustered Coach.

“Our opponents were notable and we were consistent throughout the game. The only regret is conceding that goal, but it was a step forward compared to our last match.”

Patron Diego Della Valle was in the Stadio Artemio Franchi stands for the first time in three years and also had lunch with the squad.

“Della Valle’s presence helped bring calm to the group. We played to enjoy ourselves and that gave us grit,” continued Montella.

“Adem Ljajic scored a great goal against a fine ‘keeper, but there were many good moves to watch back and remember fondly.

“There is a big difference between our home record and away, more in terms of results than performances, so we have to improve on that.”

Fiorentina were expected to move to a 4-3-3 system, but only made adjustments by using Stevan Jovetic as a centre-forward.

“The system is often dictated by the way the game is going. People said the team wasn’t in good shape, but when we stay tight you can see the freshness even more.”
