The Chelsea manager spoke to Gazzetta TV about his time at San Siro, which culminated in The Treble in 2010.

“Football has to be about emotions and after 15 years I can’t experience it without passion,” said Mou.

“Obviously I can control myself a bit better now, but emotion has to be there always. That was my career at Inter, full of emotions, difficult and dramatic moments, of words that came from the heart.

“The fundamental thing for me is being happy on a global scale, for I am a Coach, but also a man. Your life and family have to be happy, you need to like the players in your squad and have a great rapport with the fans, who are an important part of your life and the club.

“The rapport with the Inter fans was unique from the first day and I also found an incredible team there.

“I had a fantastic rapport with everyone. Sometimes I think back to Inter, as my rapport with the players was truly special, because I am a difficult person to work with.

“I am very critical of my players. I like to create a strong personality in them, so I pressure and I demand, I like confrontation and strong words. At Inter I found personalities that were already strong, which made my job easier.”

Mourinho won the Scudetto, Coppa Italia and Champions League with Inter in 2010, famously photographed crying as he hugged Marco Materazzi after that victorious Final.

At that point it was already well known that the Special One was moving on.

“From the start of my career I always had clear objectives. After Portugal I wanted England, then my challenge was Italy.

“I really respected the Italian Coaches: Giovanni Trapattoni, Arrigo Sacchi, all tacticians with fantastic careers. I wanted to win in England, Spain and Italy.

“But at Inter I left something special behind. Now Helenio Herrera and Mourinho are the highest points in the history of the club.

“I left crying, but my embrace with Massimo Moratti also showed that he accepted I had done something fantastic with all of them.”
