Multiple sources report that 83 Giallorossi supporters called newspapers and the Italian Embassy in Holland after they were picked up by officials at the airport.

They claim the police drove them out to open countryside, made them get off the bus and individually took all their details.

“We were treated like animals by the Dutch police,” complained one.

Another called the treatment “violent and uncivilised,” while one described it as “a kidnapping.”

There were concerns of crowd trouble ahead of tonight’s Europa League match, which kicks off in Rotterdam at 20.05 GMT.

The Feyenoord fans wreaked havoc in Rome ahead of the first leg last week, causing hundreds of thousands of Euros in damages to historic monuments and public transport.

“We were stopped right at the steps coming off the airplane, kidnapped on to two buses and driven to open countryside,” wrote one.

“There they photographed us, took our details and searched us under the pouring rain. Our luggage was opened and examined without us being present. We were treated like animals and kept out there for two and a half hours.

“For necessary bodily functions, we had to go up against a tree with a sweaty policeman observing us. Children were separated from their fathers.

“When we called the Italian Embassy in Holland, they said we should’ve expected that treatment.”

It is not yet clear whether these 83 fans will be allowed out of custody to attend the game.
