“It will be an important game and it’s good for us that we go into it some points ahead,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We’ve got the right attitude and there’s plenty of confidence now, but we had it before too, even when the results weren’t coming.

“We are working well and have a clear idea in our minds of what we want to do in this match.”

Empoli have earned praise from all quarters for their performances, though results haven’t always followed suit.

“They’ve been working together for a long time and were able to construct an excellent tactical system, but in all honesty I prefer my players,” smiled Maran.

“The Azzurri move the ball around well and like through balls, so it should be a similar game to the one we played against Sampdoria.

“Both clubs represent success stories for Italian football, as every year we reconstruct splendid teams thanks to excellent planning.”

Nicolas Frey is the only injury absentee for the Flying Donkeys.

Chievo squad for Empoli: Bizzarri, Bardi, Seculin; Gamberini, Biraghi, Zukanovic, Cesar, Sardo, Dainelli, Mattiello; Cofie, Birsa, Schelotto, Hetemaj, Izco, Fetfatzidis, Radovanovic; Botta, Pellissier, Paloschi, Meggiorini, Pozzi
