Rolando Maran couldn’t help but be “satisfied” after Chievo’s second consecutive victory sank Sampdoria.

The Flying Donkeys also played on Wednesday, as their tie with Parma had been snowed off last weekend.

“Of course we are satisfied because we have picked up six points in five days. The way Parma played against Roma today proves it wasn’t easy for us to win at the Tardini,” Maran told reporters after a 2-1 win.

“Today we faced a strong Sampdoria side, but fought them with intensity, quality and a clear game-plan. I have to compliment the lads, as they united hard work with cool heads.

“It was a fully deserved win and in the second half in particular we ran hardly any risks. If we had been awarded that penalty on Paloschi, it would’ve been 3-0 and game over.

“After three defeats to Fiorentina, Juventus and Napoli, we could’ve lost confidence, but that did not happen. I said at the end of those games that we were on the right track and I meant it.”
