Braida was in the stands for tonight’s 3-1 Copa del Rey semi-final victory over Villarreal.

“He is a signing for Barcelona and not for Bartomeu,” President Josep Maria Bartomeu told Canal Plus.

“Tomorrow he will sign the contract. I am confident he will form a great partnership with Carles Rexach, plus Jordi Mestre and Javier Bordas.

“They will be in charge of preparing for next season.”

Braida worked at Milan as director general from 1986 to 2002, then from 2002 to December 2013 as director of sport.

He will now be Barcelona’s director of sport with a particular focus on their international transfers.

Barca had to completely revamp their staff after sacking Andoni Zubizarreta, a decision that prompted Carles Puyol to quit.
