Shakhtar Donetsk are expected to give an answer to Roma today on their latest offer for Luiz Adriano.

Reports seemed to suggest that a deal between the clubs was losing ground, as the Ukrainians’ CEO Sergei Palkin said yesterday that the player wanted to stay.

However, the Gazzetta dello Sport report that talks are not definitively ended just yet, and that I Lupi are awaiting an answer from Shakhtar on their latest offer.

The publication reports that former Roma defender and current Shakhtar assistant Coach and interpreter Antonio Carlos Zago met club President Rinat Akhmetov yesterday to try convince him to let the player go.

Seen as having tabled an offer to take Adriano on an initial €2m loan deal with a purchase clause of €8m, Roma are reported as expecting an answer from Shakhtar today, if it hasn’t already arrived overnight.
