The winger had been due to join over the summer as a free agent, but the two clubs managed to agree terms for a January switch.

“My contract was coming up for renewal in June and I wasn’t satisfied by Liverpool’s offer in sporting or economic terms,” Suso told Marca newspaper in Spain.
“I arrived at Liverpool as a kid and I learned so much, but I noticed they didn’t have much faith in me. I therefore wanted a change of scenery.

“Milan are offering me everything I need. It’s a great club with an incredible history, even if it’s not their best moment of form. My objectives are to play as much as possible and take Milan back into the Champions League, where they belong.”

The Spaniard is happy to inherit the Number 8 jersey from Riccardo Saponara, who moved to Empoli on loan.

“I visited Milanello last week and spoke to Inzaghi, who told me to be patient. He said I must adapt, because there are many differences between the Premier League and Serie A. I also spoke to Diego Lopez and De Jong.

“The thing that most surprised me was Milan Lab: it’s on a whole other level.”

Milan Lab is the Rossoneri’s state of the art fitness centre, with machinery and techniques based on American Football.
