“We could’ve dealt better with the situation when it was XI against XI. We held out as well as we could with 10 men, but once again conceded from a corner. We need to do something about that,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.
“Of course with 50 minutes down to 10 men it’s difficult. I introduced Alex because I saw we were struggling in the air, but incredibly straight after putting on our best header of the ball we conceded from a corner.
“De Sciglio is an Italy full-back and I thought it would be helpful for him to play on his natural foot at right-back. Abate cannot play two games in three days and I want him ready for the Coppa Italia.”
Milan continue to insist they are targeting third place and Champions League qualification, but the Coach is tired of the subject.
“We mustn’t talk about this anymore. We have to focus on playing, improving and getting more character into the team when we go in front. We are paying a heavy price for that lack of concentration when taking the lead.”
The Rossoneri backed off throughout the game, especially after Mattia De Sciglio was sent off, and ended with just 36 per cent possession.
“The big mistake was that we went too deep. I tried to push them forward and give the players courage, but when this team runs into difficulty it lacks confidence. It’s up to me to improve that.
“If it weren’t for a late corner, we would’ve won a game with 10 men and that’d be a great achievement. The plan is to press high and we created the first goal like that, but with 10 men it was impossible to keep that up against a Torino side that keeps the ball well.
“We could’ve done better in the first half, but when down to 10 I really can’t complain about the performance.
“I knew it would be a struggle this season and throughout my playing career I focused only on work, so I’m doing the same as a Coach. This side lacks some character and belief, as once they go in front they ought to gain confidence, but instead tend to get nervous.”
