Roma are attempting to offload Ashley Cole and Marco Borriello in an attempt to ease the wagebill, but reports suggest they are intent on staying.

Borriello has not been used at all this season by Coach Rudi Garcia, while the English full-back has failed to meet expectations, leading the club to apparently prioritise the transfer of both players.

However, the Gazzetta dello Sport reports today that both are unhappy with the prospect of an exit and do not want to consider options away from the capital.

Borriello’s salary is believed to be €3.5m a year, while Cole is understood to make €2.3m.

Urby Emanuelson, on the other hand, is reported as being close to leaving, perhaps as early as next week. Atalanta have been in continued talks for the Dutch utility man.
