Reports today had reiterated that the two clubs have reached an agreement for the player's loan move and that the deal was all but official.

However, Tuttomercatoweb now reports that Nerazzurro director Piero Ausilio is still trying to strike a better deal.

Arsenal are seen to have initially set down a price of €3m for the loan, but that this could be lowered to €1.5m with a clause for a mandatory purchased fixed between €6m-7m.

Inter would also have to pay €3m gross, €1.75 net, to Podolski for his salary, further inflating the price of the operation.

As the Italian club looks for a better deal, Podolski meantime plays down rumours of a transfer to Galatasaray.

“I was informed about Galatasaray's offer,” the Germany international is quoted as telling the Turkish Press today.

“But that was a long time ago. Now I'm an Arsenal player, but in January I will make the best decision for myself.”
