Milan Channel announced Alessio Cerci will join them in an exchange of loans with Fernando Torres to Atletico Madrid.

The deal had been in the “advanced” stage on Christmas Eve, but then hit the brakes when Cerci took time to choose between Milan and Inter.

This afternoon Milan Channel – the club’s official television station – announced that Cerci had accepted the transfer.

“The Cerci talks – nothing official yet, but we are at the finish line. Just a few more millimetres,” was the announcement.

It will be a straight swap of 18-month loan deals, sending Cerci to San Siro and Torres back to his first major club Atletico Madrid.

Ex-Torino winger Cerci lasted only six months at Atleti and spent most of it on the bench, so pushed for an exit.

Torres scored just one goal with Milan and the Rossoneri pulled the plug early on what was meant to be a two-year loan from Chelsea.

Effectively, Atletico Madrid are now taking over Milan’s loan deal with Chelsea.

Cerci is currently on vacation in the Maldives, but could well make his Milan debut in Tuesday's friendly against Real Madrid in Dubai.
