Roberto Donadoni confessed Parma are “scared and not determined enough” after a 2-0 defeat to Napoli.

The Ducali have lost their last six consecutive away games and remain rooted to the foot of the table.

“I’d say we suffered too much in terms of individual duels in the first half and that made the difference. Mirante had little to do in the first half, but the team overall wasn’t gritty or determined enough,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We did better in the second half and hit the woodwork, but it requires more enterprising spirit and less fear even against a strong side like Napoli.

“When we do get an opportunity, you can see we are afraid and that can make the difference.”

Some of that may well be due to the problems behind the scenes, as the club is in the middle of being sold to new investors with chaos and confusion over who is in charge.

“These aren’t issues that depend on us and I am not accustomed to looking for alibis outside the field. Obviously having solidity and calm behind you helps, but we still give our all on the pitch,” insisted Donadoni.

“Clinging on to these situations is a bit too easy and I say that for myself too, as we are the ones on the field. It’s not as if tomorrow a magnate full of money will get results if we don’t change our attitude during the games.

“This match sums up our season really, as in many games we were not really inferior, but a single individual move penalised us heavily. If you face a team that creates six or seven chances, then you can allow them that, but if not then the error becomes a turning point.

“On the opening goal it was an individual duel between two players, we lost it and paid a heavy price. I hope after tomorrow the club situation can be definitively calmed down and go forward.

“We don’t have many players of a very high quality. We are slowly getting them back, like Paletta and Cassani. We lost Coda to a knee injury, Jorquera has gone under the knife too for a fracture in his foot he sustained last week.

“Obviously Biabiany was very important for us and also gave Cassano the kind of support he loved. We lack alternatives at the moment.”
