Vincenzo Montella was “ashamed and disappointed” after Fiorentina lost to Dinamo Minsk and slammed Juan Cuadrado.

The Viola already had first place under lock and key, but were beaten on home turf 2-1 by the group whipping boys.

“I am not remotely happy with the performance, as this was just as important a game as the others this season,” said Montella.

“The intensity of the team in the opening 20 minutes was particularly poor.”

Cuadrado started the match and was substituted after 24 minutes, but Montella revealed it was not due to an injury.

“I tried playing him, but I saw he wasn’t mentally in the game and had to replace him. I expected more from the team and from individual players.

“I fear that I was unable to transmit what I wanted from this game. I expected more, because there is a clear difference between these two teams.”

There was some good news, as 17-year-old Simone Minelli made an impressive debut.

“Minelli is very young and still green, but he showed great potential. Marin did well and scored, it’s just a shame we lost.

“The Coach is the first one responsible for a defeat, so I am ashamed and disappointed that we lost. The intensity and concentration were below our capabilities.

“Why did Mario Gomez start? You win games with strikers and I didn’t have any others available.”
