CSKA Moscow Coach Leonid Slutski praised his team for showing “skill and character” to hold Roma.

Francesco Totti had put the Giallorossi in front, but Vasili Berezutski’s cross floated in with the last kick of the game for a 1-1 Champions League result.

“It is clear that the tournament situation forced us to play to win,” said Slutski in a Press conference.

“It is very difficult to hold the ball all the time against Roma. I think that as a whole in the first half we probed. It was even more unpleasant to go in to the break a goal down.

“I am glad the team showed skill and character, pulling out an equaliser in the third minute of added time and kept the intrigue in our group alive.”

Slutski explained he opted for Alexander Cauna because of how much he respected Roma, as “playing without a defensive midfielder would be suicide.”
