Roma director Mauro Baldissoni is surprised they could secure Champions League qualification a round early.

The Giallorossi are joint second in Group E with CSKA Moscow on four points each, while Bayern Munich have already booked their ticket to the next phase.

“This is the toughest group and we are happy to be in a position to go through. It doesn’t just depend on us, as this evening’s result will also be important,” Baldissoni told Sky Sport Italia.

Roma already won the first leg 5-1 at the Olimpico, so if they win in Moscow today and Manchester City fail to beat Bayern Munich tonight, then the Italians will be qualified.

That means the Giallorossi will not even need a result in the final match against Manchester City on home turf.

It is -6 degrees Celsius in Moscow before kick-off and Rudi Garcia has been forced into changes, but surprisingly picked Adem Ljajic for his trident attack.

“Those who are in the best shape get to play and we are happy that we have alternatives. Ljajic has shown over the last few games he is not just on form, but also scored some great goals.”
