Torino Coach Giampiero Ventura blasted fans for “insulting a team that has more points than last season.”

The Granata suffered their third consecutive defeat, falling 1-0 on home turf to Sassuolo, and were jeered off the field.

“At a certain stage of the game I heard insults from the stands for a team that has more points than last season and had created eight or nine scoring opportunities,” Ventura told Sky Sport Italia.

“If we had won this game, nobody could’ve said it wasn’t deserved. It is difficult to comment on these situations, as the environment around us certainly wasn’t favourable.

“We need to focus on working, though some people need to reflect. Sassuolo are a good team, but we created so many chances. In my view we do not have the necessary calm and confidence to do more.

“I was angry in Helsinki, but today I am just disappointed.”

Torino have had three penalties this season and failed to convert any of them, while they haven’t scored at all in Serie A in November.

“Sanchez Mino’s performance was negative today, not just because of the penalty, but because he went into a personal crisis after that incident. In Italian football you need character and not just talent.

“Today I am at a crossroads. Either I get depressed or I prove that eight scoring opportunities can be recreated and taken in future.”
