Rudi Garcia insists he was right to have faith in Adem Ljajic, but concedes Roma “gave away the ball” too much with Atalanta.

The Giallorossi went behind after just 57 seconds in Bergamo, but fought back for a 2-1 victory with Ljajic and Radja Nainggolan.

“I have been saying for 18 months that Ljajic is extremely talented. We can rotate the strikers and give everyone playing time,” Garcia told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was important to win, especially after going a goal down so quickly. We showed character, but perhaps gave away the ball more tonight than throughout the rest of the season.

“The win was important because this is going to be a difficult arena for anyone to come away with. We are satisfied.

“Manuel Iturbe had an injury and needs to be 100 per cent fit to play his style. He needs to improve how he plays with his back to goal, but the important thing is that he gives his all for the team. When he has more energy, he’ll make more of his pace.”

Roma’s victory puts them level at the top of the table with Juventus” data-scaytid=”16″>Juventus, who are away to Lazio” data-scaytid=”17″>Lazio this evening.

“Am I hoping for a Lazio win? The important thing is that we get our result, then the others near the top should preferably draw. A Juve defeat might be even better, but first of all we have to focus on our own results.”
