Ernesto Pellegrini has rubbished claims that he could return to Inter as a shareholder, while he believes in Erick Thohir's project.

The former Nerazzurri President was reported this week to be eyeing up Massimo Moratti's 30 per cent stake in the club, but the 73-year-old has insisted otherwise during an interview with Radio24 today.

“Erick Thohir didn't ask me to come back to the club, and neither have I made any advances to him,” Pellegrini has clarified.

“I have a good relationship with him, he's an easy guy who keeps his feet on the ground.

“He threw himself into this adventure with courage, enthusiasm and passion, and I hope he succeeds.

“The money? Slowly… after all, he has been here for a year-and-a-half, give it time. I believe in him.”

Pellegrini then commented on Inter's change in Coach and admitted that he could not pick a favourite ahead of the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday.

“Mazzarri is a very good Coach who hasn't been very fortunate. Mancini has already enjoyed success at Inter and won the fans' affection,” the ex-patron added.

“With him there's great hope, not only in the derby. Milan? They're a very good team.

“Usually the derby is unpredictable and normally the favourite doesn't win, but I still haven't figured out who [will win], this time around.”
