The Flying Donkeys brought in Maran for Eugenio Corini, after a miserable start to the season, and their veteran centre-back has noticed an impact.

“I see the team in a state of growth, with its own character and identity,” Gamberini has said to reporters this week.

“Perhaps the team still has a little fear, but games like that against Cesena can help us.

“The team has to grow some more, in the defensive phase as well as in the construction of play, which starts precisely from the back.

“Rolando Maran has changed us at a technical and tactical level, even in the training sessions. He has come here and deserves merit for having tried to quickly give an identity to the team.”

“They are almost a top-level team, they have quality players in every part of the pitch and they held intact their spine of players from last year.”

Gamberini's state of form has been a concern, but today he reassured his fans.

“I'm feeling well,” he said about himself.

“Last year I had a major problem that kept me out for a long time. I am glad that I have recovered continuity in playing.

“I feel that I recovered from my injury just as I'd have wanted.”
