The defender is still training separately as he looks to recover to full match fitness after an injury and illness-interrupted first stage of this campaign.

Having recently assured supporters that he is on the road to recovery, the 28-year-old was reported by sporting director Walter Sabatini described his recent struggles as down to a ‘congenital problem’ which will be clarified in an upcoming club statement.

Whilst Sabatini also commented that the Brazilian will shortly return to first-team activity with the Giallorossi, Rome publication Il Messaggero believe the defender won’t be back on the pitch until 2015 at the earliest.
