Torino defender Emiliano Moretti has set a new record as the oldest player to make his Italy debut, starting against Albania.

The 33-year-old made his first appearance for the Azzurri at senior level in this evening’s friendly against Albania.

It kicked off at Marassi in Genoa at 19.45 GMT.

The previous record had been held by Milan defender Mauro Tassotti, who made his debut in October 1992 at the age of 32.

Moretti will turn 34 in June 2015.
