Paulo Dybala has grown as a player at Palermo and confirmed he’s in talks to extend his contract with the Rosanero.

Today is his 21st birthday, but the Argentine forward has been in Sicily since the age of 18.

“I have grown up so much since I first arrived here,” Dybala told Sky Sport Italia.

“Three years ago they used to call me Picciriddu (a Sicilian term for young kid, ndr), but this time has helped me to settle and grow into my football.

“I am happy to have spent these years in Palermo.”

Those included time in Serie B, but now he has netted four goals in 11 Serie A appearances this season.

His contract expires in June 2016, but Palermo are eager to hang on to Dybala for a long time yet.

“We have already talked with the director of sport, we’re in negotiations and should reach an agreement soon.

“I am happy here and want to continue wearing this jersey, whatever happens. I try every Sunday to confirm what the President saw in me when I was playing in Argentina.

“My hero as a kid was Ronaldinho, as I always had his poster on my wall. He had fun on the field, always with a smile on his face. He was an incredible player.”
