Tottenham’s Erik Lamela could return to Italy, with rumours indicating that Inter and Napoli are circling the Argentinean.

Lamela joined Spurs in 2013 from Roma, commanding a fee of over €30m, a transfer record for the English club.

However, the youngster struggled to settle in London during his first season, and despite four goals in 17 games so far this term, Calciomercato reports that Inter and Napoli are ready to take the attacker back to Italy.

The website reports that both clubs have spoken with Lamela’s agent in recent days, with Napoli keen to bring in a replacement for the injured Lorenzo Insigne, and Inter looking to increase the quality in their squad after a poor start to the season.

According to the site, both sides would seek to get Lamela on an initial loan deal, with a purchase clause included in any deal.

A move back to the peninsula is reportedly also attractive for Lamela, after first catching the eye with his stellar performances for Roma.

Calciomercato states that Tottenham are yet to show any signs that the club would be open to such a move, but negotiations are only in their infancy.
