Now, the FIGC have confirmed that the 22-year-old has withdrawn from the squad, and will return to Paris today.

In a statement released through their official website, the Federation confirms that Verratti will return to the French capital to continue physiotherapy treatment on his insertional tendinitis injury.

Italy face Croatia in Euro 2016 qualification at San Siro on Sunday, before then hosting Albania in a friendly in Genoa two days later.
