Lucas Biglia has reiterated that a summer transfer to Real Madrid was very close and that he’d like to grab the chance again if given the opportunity.

The Argentine has previously acknowledged that late-summer links to Los Blancos were not wide of the mark and today he has reflected further on that.

“I could have joined Real Madrid in August but the closure of the transfer window was so close that the deal just didn’t materialise,” Biglia told media during his Press conference in London ahead of Argentina’s friendly against Croatia on Wednesday night.

“At the moment I feel very happy at Lazio” data-scaytid=”6″>Lazio but I want to continue to grow and in the future I hope I can have another chance like that.”

Before that, though, he knows there is still some room for improvement.

“Now Gerardo Martino asks us to press high up the pitch but against Germany and Brazil we have already shown great things.

“I think that totally changing tactical system in this way will only help me to grow and improve my football expertise.

“At the moment I am still playing with a bandage to my foot and I feel some pain, but I didn’t really want to miss this call-up as we are all starting from square one and we want to be very important for the group.”

Another Serie A name in the form of Carlos Tevez has been recalled after a three-year absence from the Albiceleste.

“I am happy for Tevez who is a very important player. He has been playing at a great level for some time, and to us that’s a great advantage.”

Finally, Biglia has been asked to relive the final lost in Rio de Janeiro against Germany, but such a memory still hurts.

“I prefer not to talk about that night – the disappointment has been so big that we don’t even talk about it between each other.”
