Insigne underwent surgery on a cruciate ligament injury yesterday, an injury which usually has a minimum recovery time of six months.

Reports this morning indicate that Insigne’s lay-off, coupled with a niggling injury for Michu will see Napoli act in January.

Both Il Mattino and Gianluca Di Marzio’s website identify Marseille’s Andre Ayew as a priority target for the San Paolo side, with the Ghanaian’s contract expiring in the summer.

Other targets for Rafa Benitez’ side are thought to include Paul-Jose Mpoku of Standard Liege and Ivan Perisic at Wolfsburg.

Il Mattino also links Erik Lamela of Tottenham with a move Naples, however Di Marzio’s site states that the Argentinean’s wages would be prohibitively expensive, with Ezequiel Lavezzi’s return thought to be unlikely for the same reason.
