Chinese Super League champions Guangzhou Evergrande have officially announced Fabio Cannavaro as the club’s new Coach.
The former defender replaces Marcello Lippi, who stepped down from the job this week to take up the role of technical director.

Cannavaro was made Italy captain by Lippi, and lifted the 2006 World Cup under the tutelage of the former Juventus” data-scaytid=”8″>Juventus Coach.
The appointment marks Cannavaro’s first role as a Coach, having been on the coaching staff at Al Ahli in Dubai.
Guangzhou announced the appointment on the club’s official website, declaring” “Cannavaro has officially joined Guangzhou Evergrande Football Club.”
Cannavaro also took to Twitter to declare himself: “Ready for the new project.”
The 41-year-old will be billed as ‘Executive Head Coach’, with Lippi retaining the title of Head Coach.
“There might be some misunderstanding about what I said before, that I would give up and ditch the team,” Lippi told a Press conference announcing the appointment.
“No, I'm still the chief director and the head Coach of the team, I'm just not going to be on the pitch every day.
“I couldn't do anything when my family had issues, I couldn't stand that I had to visit home only every six months.
“So I suggested the team should find an executive head Coach, which would allow me to visit home every two months.”
