Mateo Kovacic said Inter’s victory over Sampdoria was “fundamental” and they are becoming a group of friends.

Mauro Icardi’s last-gasp penalty secured a 1-0 win at San Siro, their second in a row after squeezing past 10-man Cesena with the same scoreline.

“Against Sampdoria it was a fundamental victory,” Kovacic told Sky Sport Italia.

“We are becoming a real group, formed of real friends. We have fun both on and off the field, have come off three good performances, as against Napoli it was also solid.

“The fans have reason to jeer a little, as there have been a few poor performances. Now there are another two difficult matches ahead of us. Parma are in trouble, but they will nonetheless be tough to break down.

“I hope Antonio Cassano doesn’t play well, as when he’s having fun, he becomes extremely dangerous.”
