“We received some positive signs from the game with Genoa, even if the result wasn’t positive,” the Coach said of their 2-1 home defeat.

“We did several things right and this is the path to follow in terms of character. I hope to see Chievo increasingly attacking, making the most of our chances against stronger teams.

“It is obvious we need points if we look at the table, but I also have to say the season has just begun. In Serie A there are no easy games, but we must be realistic and take it one week at a time.

“We are going to Palermo in order to give our best and I want us to leave the pitch with no regrets about what we could’ve done.”

Ex-Catania Coach Maran took over from Eugenio Corini last week and the Genoa game was his debut.

“I still haven’t had time to fully implement my ideas, but I hope to do so soon.”
