“Am I worried that we’re far behind third place? Not for the moment, especially as we deserved an extra four points on our tally and the situation would be different if we had beaten Genoa and Sassuolo,” said the Coach in a Press conference.

“In general the team has done what was in its potential. In order to grow we had to improve defensively, but we remain a side built to score goals and we do it best when we have courage and confidence. Perhaps the team feels the pressure a bit too much at the moment and that affects the performances.”
Tomorrow’s game can be seen as a head-to-head, as Udinese are in joint third place with Sampdoria.
“Udinese are a difficult team who deserve to be in their current position. They know how to adapt to their opponents and have individuals who can make their mark during a game.
“However, we cannot get anything else wrong now. We have an important opportunity to close up and I expect a good performance that can get the fans on their feet.”
Mati Fernandez is out for 10 days with a thigh strain, but Mario Gomez and David Pizarro are back in the squad.
“Mati is an important loss, as he was giving us both quality and quantity. Gomez is in the squad, but I think it’s premature to think he can play.”
After Udinese, Fiorentina will take on Sampdoria and Napoli.
“The next three games are decisive for the Champions League places,” added Montella. “They will be important for us to understand what we can really do.”
