Gian Piero Gasperini praised Genoa for “an important victory after a terrible first half” against Chievo.

The Grifone were 1-0 down, but despite missing a penalty they fought back to win 2-1 at the Bentegodi.

“It’s an important victory after a terrible first half in which we didn’t get anything right,” Gasperini told Rai Sport.

“Then we broke through and were able to win, taking advantage of the extra man. Our position in the table is solid and we hope to pick up some more points on home turf.

“We also need to improve our defending from set plays, as we never used to concede this many from dead ball situations.”
