Lazio Coach Stefano Pioli said tomorrow’s early kick-off with Fiorentina is “an important test for both teams.”

“Tomorrow will be an important test for both teams with three points up for grabs and we hope to bring them home,” said Pioli in his Press conference.

The Aquile are unbeaten in two, while the Viola stretched their positive streak to five games.

“We want to put our style of football on to the field and play our game. It’s true we have several injury problems and that will penalise us, but I trust those who will step on to the pitch.

“It’s going to be tough for both sides, as we’re on a similar level and both have the objective to confirm good work and build on them.

“There are predictions, but then what happens on the field dictates the result and who will emerge on top.”

Pioli also had a message for ex-Lazio Coach Edy Reja, who this week publicly backed him on the bench.

“I read Reja’s words and he needn’t worry, I am relaxed. The club has given me a squad suited to achieving our objectives and we need the right mentality to bring home the three points. We’ve been fairly consistent in our performances, but less so the results.”

There was controversy this week when Serbia-Albania was abandoned due to a riot, as Lazio have in their squad two players from each team: Filip Djordjevic, Dusan Basta, Lorik Cana and Etrit Berisha.

“Our players are united underneath our flag,” assured Pioli. “There was no need for me to intervene, as they are calm and concentrated. I spoke to them, as I do to all players after international duty.

“Football did not come out well from that situation, but then football had little to do with it and the players behaved well on the field. In 2014 certain things just shouldn’t happen.”
