Chile Coach Jorge Sampaoli insists there was “no pressure from Juventus” to release Arturo Vidal and they wouldn’t accept anyway.

The midfielder is on international duty and played 90 minutes over the weekend, but was suffering from pain in his knee again.

There are reports the Bianconeri asked for Vidal to be sent back to Turin early so that he could be seen by the club medics.

“Vidal is fine, his form will be shown by how long he spends on the field,” said Sampaoli.

“There is constant dialogue with Juventus, nobody forced us to do anything or put pressure on us, and if they had then our response would’ve been negative.

“Clubs can ask what they want, but at the end of the day the decision is ours. We need Arturo here with us.”

Chile’s next match is a friendly against Bolivia and Inter’s Gary Medel also hopes to play despite losing two teeth and needing stitches in his tongue after the last game.
